"I just don't understand why he doesn't love you..."
She smiled softly at his morose face. “He loves her, that’s why.”
He shook his head while he scowled. “I can’t accept that.”
“Between you and me, you know better that they should be together. You watched them yourself for years.”
He kept on staring at her intently and it was getting into her nerves. “What? You know I’m right! They love each other but they’re just too blind and too stupid to admit it.”
“No.”
‘Oh, don’t lie! You know I’m right.”
“It’s not that,” he said and stared at her again.
She raised her brow at the tone.
“Why are you like that?” He was studying her like a hideously difficult piece of puzzle.
“Like what?”
“You said you love him.”
“I…,” she cleared her throat and spoke more clearly. “I did.”
“You ‘do’.”
Annoyed now, she got up and raised her hands in resignation. “Fine! I ‘do’.”
She went to the window and looked at the streets without seeing anything.
“So, why are you doing this to yourself? Why are you giving him up? Just like that?” He remained seated but he was following her every move.
“It’s not just like that. It’s just the way I am. It seems that it hurts less when I see him happy.” She glanced back at him. “Really happy. I can’t change that in myself.”
They were silent for a while. She went back to watching the streets blankly and he watched her more closely, as if he could solve her but without luck.
She didn’t hear when he spoke again. “That’s why I can’t understand that he can’t love you.”
Author’s Note: I didn’t want to put names on the characters ...just because. No, really, I don't want to present the plot yet. Besides, it’s too bloody hard to give names to characters (next to deciding the title). But should you deem that it’s necessary for me to do it, please leave a comment and I’ll be happy to do what I can. I know its a bit cliche' or you might think its a bore. Tell me what you think! Leave a comment...!
